Welcome to our website - created to give you information on my mom's tumor, keep you updated on the surgery and recovery, and to help connect her to a community of people who care about her as she faces this. 

                              ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

As some of you know, my mom has a brain tumor.  Because it is in a very unsafe location, in consultation with her doctors, she’s decided to have surgery to have it removed. The tumor is a meningioma, thankfully a slow-growing kind of tumor, and probably benign. The news is shocking and scary certainly, but we’ve decided to approach this with joy and optimism, rather than just fear, and to make it a celebration - a chance to connect with the many people who’ve meant so much to my mom, and to whom she’s also meant a lot.

This website is a place for me to update you, but also a place you can send in stories, wishes, pictures, jokes, recipes... anything.

 I’m hoping this will be a chance for my mom to see how much love there is out there for her, so that she goes into this feeling support and love and joy, rather than feeling alone. It's also an as an opportunity to stop for a moment, and reflect on my mom’s life, one that I believe has been quite gracefully lived.

My mom's enthusiasm for all the people she knows, her friends and acquaintances, her students, even people she knows for just a short time - is really big.  She tells me stories about people in her life now and long ago, the good things she takes from even the smallest interactions.   You are connected to this page because you have meant a lot to her. So I want to invite you to join us in this. You have touched my mom. You have mattered in her life, and we would love it if you would join us in this next phase: the surgery, her recovery, and all the days after.

So please send me anything you'd like to share. I'll share them with her, and post them here, (unless you'd rather it not be posted, just let me know.)  Anything really – a story, a memory, a picture, a note to her, a math problem, a recipe – short, long - whatever you like.

 Because the surgery is coming so soon, and because my mom and I are geographically 1800 miles apart, we are bound to unwittingly fail to get word out to some of the many good friends we want to include. Please feel free to tell anyone who knows Suzanne and might want to know, and urge them to send their contact information to me as well.

This site is full of information about my mom’s kind of tumor, her surgery, her amazing doctor, and just her - stories, pictures - and even a bit of... would you believe - math?  She insists that there's no way to have a site about a brain tumor without having brain teasers.  Enjoy!   You can find it all in the tabs off to the right. 

The site will also include updates before and after the surgery. 

I will be sending out updates when I can, via email, so give me your email address if you would like to receive this. (If you got notice of this via email, I already have your email address.)

Thank you all for the beautiful wishes and thoughts you've been sending.  Man, do they mean a lot.  You have no idea how wonderful it is to receive them.  A few that you've wanted to share we have posted on the "From you" page.  We'll be adding more, and adding to other pages as well.  Thank you for them.

Also, the date of the surgery is scheduled for June 11th.  This could change of course, but so far, all systems are go.   Unless of course, the car breaks down, or hopefully we get some snow.
