Programs for Parents
Parents are worried, today, about the
education of their children. T
hey
are concerned about dropping test scores, 'teaching to the test,' competition for college,
poor American performance in math and science. They see their own children losing
their excitment for school and learning, and both parent and child are feeling overwhelmed
at earlier and earlier ages. And adding to the worries, as the curriculum in math
and other subjects keeps changing, parents feel inadequate to help when their kids get
stuck.
And yet, in three decades of work with students, we have found that parents have a greater positive effect on their children's learning than they ever imagine. And surprisingly, we've discovered that this has nothing to do with being able to "help" with the math or other assignments. We're going to tell you what does work, and what does help. There is a lot you can do.
We offer parent and teacher workshops, PTA programs, and individual consulting in the D.C./Maryland/Virginia area, as well as nationwide.
Topics include: Raising scores without drilling or drudgery,

igniting a spark, how to help when you can't do the math, and much more. Talks are
always tailored to meet the needs of your particular group, or conference program.
